Kaley + Erik wanted their engagement session to be somewhere that was as wild, free, and adventurous as their spirits are. They wanted to feel the wind on their faces and be surrounded by the incredible mountains that always have a way of reminding us just how small we are.
Roan Mountain is an awesome location for adventurous couples looking for a fun and beautiful engagement session!
Roan Mountain was the perfect location for their adventurous engagement session! Roan Mountain features a bald mountain (meaning there aren't any trees) so you get wide open epic views of the surrounding mountain range.
The forecast was ominous with a 60% chance of rain but the weather in the mountains is all kinds of wild and can change at any moment. So regardless of the chance for rain, Kaley, Erik, and I headed to the Tennessee/ North Carolina border for their session! Kaley said she was here for the moody mountain vibes that the rain clouds could bring and so was I!
Often, couples worry about seeing rain in the forecast for their session date, but rainy day sessions are actually some of my favorites! When the forecast calls for rain on the day of your engagement session, it likely means that the location we're shooting at is going to be nearly empty (yay, no photobombers!). Rainy days also create the most beautiful overcast skies that are actually so flattering for your skin tones. Rain also richly saturates the colors in the area that we're shooting in so you'll likely have rich vibrant natural colors shining through in your images. And if it's anything like this rainy day engagement session, we'll even get lucky enough to experience sun-shower and watch as the rain drops fall like glitter around you!
