You have Q's?
WELL I'VE GOT A'S!

Below are some of the questions that I get asked most frequently as a wedding and elopement photographer in Knoxville and the Smoky Mountains.

  • Q: Should we do a first look on our wedding day?
First looks are the best! It’s such an intimate moment between just the two of you to savor. You guys can be yourselves and enjoy all of those emotions without an audience. And you don’t have to wait all day to spend your wedding day with your boo-thang! Doing a first look also creates so much more time for photos early on in the day so that the second half of the day is filled with more of you just enjoying your guests and the kick*ss party you’re throwing!
  • Q: Do we get sneak peeks before our full gallery is ready?
Yes! You will receive a sneak peek of your wedding photos 48-36 hours after your wedding day! I’ll put together a 20-40 image recap of your day with edited images for you to share and look back on while I get to work behind the scenes to edit your full gallery.
  • Q: Will you help us create a Timeline for our day?
Absolutely. I love working with you and/or your planner leading up to your wedding day to put together a custom timeline for your day so that everything runs as smoothly as possible and we create time for all of the photos and moments that you want for your wedding day.
  • Q: Do you use “shot-list” for the wedding day?
As a professional wedding photographer, I have a mental list of all the things that usually unfold throughout a wedding day and how to document them. So don’t worry about telling me you want pictures of the rings, or you walking down the aisle, or your mom helping you get dressed- I’ve got all of that covered. But that said, if there’s any specific shots you want- whether it’s a fun bridal party pose or a portrait with your college friends- just let me know ahead of time and I’ll be sure to do my best to implement that during your day! And if something ‘just comes up’ during the wedding day, I’ll be by your side for the majority of the wedding day so I’ll be sure to capture it all. I also feel really strongly about doing the planning and preparation before the wedding day. So when I send you the questionnaire, the more details you can provide to me about what you want to include and what’s really important to you, the better I can create an efficient timeline that prioritizes those moments.
  • Q: We don’t really feel photogenic… will our photos still turn out good?
A: Yes! Everyone thinks they’re not photogenic and feels a little camera shy and that’s totally fine (and honestly, I expect that!). The only thing I ask from you is that you show up in love with your person, with an open mind, and ready to have a little fun! I also like to get to know you before we even start your engagement session. I love learning how you two interact so that when I pick up the camera to start shooting, I already know what’s most likely going to look and feel natural for you. So, there may be some tickling involved, some running around holding hands, or practicing your first dance; but whatever we do I guarantee we’ll get some real authentic emotions from the two of you. I’m also totally down to put on your favorite spotify playlist during our session so you can feel even more amped for what we’re creating together!
  • Q: When can we expect our edited wedding images?
Gallery turnaround time for weddings is usually 4-6 weeks after your wedding date. If your gallery is ready before that, I’ll send it to you as soon as it’s ready! And if it’s looking like your turnaround is going to be longer, I will absolutely keep you in the loop.
  • Q: Do you offer albums & prints?
I firmly believe in printing your images and create a physical version of your memories! I offer handmade albums and a hands-on collaborative design process for your heirloom pieces. I also have an extensive print shop connected to your digital gallery where you can directly order a variety of print products.
  • Q: How many hours of photography should we book for our wedding day?
A: Every wedding day is unique but the most popular package for wedding photography is 8 hours of coverage. This is typically 3-4 hours before your ceremony start time and 3-4 hours after your ceremony ends. Since every wedding day is different I'm happy to talk with you to figure out what amount of coverage would be the right fit for your wedding day.
  • Q: Are we allowed to share our images?
Absolutely! You’ll receive your images in a digital/ downloadable gallery that makes it super easy to save and share your images. I just ask that you not edit or add filters to your final images. All of your images are also un-watermarked so I especially love when you tag me ;)
  • Q: What kind of gear do you use? Do you bring backup gear?
I use all professional grade Nikon photo equipment. I have a wide variety of lenses that fit all occasions; tight spaces? No problem. Massive open field? I got you! I’ve been practicing the art of photography for over 10 years so I know just what to use for every scenario. I’ll also *always* bring back up equipment. I always have at least 3 camera bodies, 4-5 lenses, 10 memory cards, and 6 batteries with me on a wedding day. (I’m a type 6 on the Enneagram so being prepared for anything is my jam). I’ve also got you covered on lighting equipment! No matter how dark your reception gets, I’ll have flashes and video lights at the ready to make sure we can get all the fun dancing pictures even if your venue is like nightclub dark.
  • Q: Do you retouch our images?
All of your images will be professionally edited for things such as cropping, color correction, and exposure). I will also remove obscure or distracting objects (within reason) from your images. However, I don’t believe in altering the appearances of my clients in regards to weight, height etc. I believe that understanding angles and posing is so powerful and as your photographer I will help you look and feel your best during our session! However if you feel strongly about body-altering edits, I offer those edits for $15/ image.
  • Q: How do I know my photos are safe with you? What’s your back-up process?
A: I’m so happy you asked! Each of my cameras have dual memory card slots so that means every time I take a picture, that image gets copied onto not one but two memory cards. Then after your wedding day I upload your RAW images to two external hard drives (while still keeping your images copied on two memory cards- I will not format or reuse those memory cards until your gallery has been delivered). Then if somehow all else fails, I have a cloud backup that also saves your RAW files. I know that this day is SO important and these images can’t be recreated so I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I know that your trust in me doesn’t stop at capturing the photos on your wedding day- it also extends to keeping those images safe after your wedding day. So thank you, for your trust and I promise you and your wedding day images are my biggest passion and top priority even after your wedding day.
  • Q: Do you include a gallery of all our images in B & W?
I believe black and white images can be used strategically to give an images even more emotion! So when I edit your gallery, I will edit images into black and white that I believe enhance the power of the story being told. If there’s any images you would like specifically edited into black and white, just let me know and I’ll happily edit those for you (up to 25 additional images. After 25 images each edit will be $0.50).
  • Q: Where do you live? How far will you travel?
I currently live in Knoxville, Tennessee just outside of the Great Smoky Mountains! I love to travel so I will go wherever you want me. I have customizable travel packages and special rates for weddings or sessions in the Chicago area, Reno Nevada area, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida area.
  • Q: Are you a licensed Smoky Mountain Photographer? (Also known as a CUA holder for Smoky Mountain National Park)
A: Yes, I am a licensed Smoky Mountain Photographer. I hold a CUA for photography inside of Smoky Mountain National Park.
  • Q: Can we incorporate one of those trendy smoke bombs in our session?
No, unfortunately I’m highly allergic to smoke bombs. I have an epi-pen but they’re still a one-way ticket to the ER for me :(
  • Q: Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?
Absolutely. Love is love and ALL are welcome here.
  • Q: How will my images be delivered?
A: Your images will be delivered via a digital and downloadable online gallery where you can download your images, share your images, and order prints
  • Q: Do you have liability insurance?
A: Yes! I am a licensed and insured business.
  • Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: I'm happy to discuss flexible payment options with you! This is more than just a job to me and capturing your memories is what matters most so let's talk about the best way we can make that happen for you.

Meet Your Photographer

Hi, I'm Madi!

I'm a photographer and adventurer based in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

Knoxville is where I call home but the mountains are where my soul comes alive. My husband and I eloped in March 2021 overlooking the Smokies. We have two Bluetick Hounds who are the best part of my day, everyday. When I'm not photographing love stories you can catch me on a trail exploring, in a hammock napping, on the back of our motorcycle, or in the sunshine with an iced dirty chai.
