20 years ago Michelle and Chris exchanged their vows overlooking the beautiful Smoky Mountains. They promised to build their lives together, side by side - hand in hand for the rest of their years to come, and they’ve done exactly that. Since then they’ve spent chapters of their lives all over the Southeast from Key West to Georgia - but the Smoky Mountains have always held a special place in their hearts. They knew Smoky Mountain Overlook and Gatlinburg Chapel would be the one and only place to have their vow renewal. It was amazing, stunning and breathtaking. The emotions that filled the air that day was incredible and truly something I will never forget. Come see for yourself!
A Breathtaking Smoky Mountain Wedding Vow Renewal Experience!
20 years after they first said “I do” Michelle and Chris came back to the Smoky Mountains to celebrate their anniversary and renew their vows together. It was important for Michelle and Chris to be able to revisit the wedding chapel that held so many dear memories for them so that was our first stop. We recreated their first walk down the stairs as husband and wife and then spent a few moments reminiscing in front of the steps that were once filled with their dear family and friends, some of whom are no longer here with them.
After that, we drove over to one of my favorite Smoky Mountain overlooks to recreate their mountain view ceremony portraits. Michelle and Chris brought a few items that were sentimental to them to help document this occasion. One of the items was a sign for their home that they were given as a wedding gift 20 years ago. Michelle said that sign has lived to see many homes and many visitors, it’s been weathered by the sun and the elements along it’s journey and in many ways feels very similar to the two of them. Another sentimental item Michelle and Chris brought for their vow renewal is Michelle’s original wedding veil that her mom had sewn for her.

It was such an honor to capture this special chapter for Michelle and Chris. They’ve shared so many adventures together in this lifetime and it’s so beautiful to see them come back to where it all began and take time to truly celebrate all that they’ve accomplished together on their journey. I love making sure my couples feel as special as possible during their day with me and we definitely did that together. Our time together was intentional, fun, emotional and filled with meaning. Honestly, the only way it should be.
